What the wine media has said about Dark Star Cellars
Not many reviews, eh? That's because we don't send our wines to magazines to be reviewed. I don't have enough wine to go around now, let alone enough to send them cases. I could get into the whole ugly debate of why there are really only three guys in the whole country that review wine, but why rip off that scab? But if you need it, the following people have said this:
"Limited production, artisan winemaking with respect for traditional vineyard practices. Sounds like any number of new North Coast wineries? This small family vineyard run operation, however, is on the West Side of Paso Robles. The Merlot and Cabernet can certainly hold their own with anything the North Coast can produce". Bob Cranston - The Wine Authority
"Dark Star is among the newcomers in Paso Robles in the class of Eberle, Justin, Adelaida, and Wild Horse". Dan Berger - Wine Enthusiast
"Beyond Napa" - Far from having a monopoly on Cabernet, Napa, is challenged by other California regions. Look for Dark Star Cellars on the Central Coast". Bruce Sanderson - Wine Spectator
Paso Robles Vintners Association - In a blind judging by the Vintners of Paso Robles, Dark Star Cellars '99 Cabernet Sauvignon and the '99 Merlot were chosen the best produced wines of their Varietal in the vintage. |
